The Church of Religious Science is the organization which gives form to the teaching called The Science of Mind. "The Science of Mind" is a textbook written by Dr. Ernest Holmes in 1926. Religious Science can be approached as a science, a philosophy and a religion. Religious Science exists to facilitate the reawakening of each individual's awareness of the Higher Self. We offer practical and definite methods with which each individual can relate positive life changes. We are NOT Scientology - We are NOT Christian Science ........................ Do you believe in Doctors? We believe that God, our Spirit, can work in many ways. This includes miracle healings, doctors, prescribed medicines, meditation, and alternate medicine. God is present everywhere. God can work through Doctors and Medicine ........................ Do you believe in Jesus as Saviour? No. Jesus was a way-shower and a master teacher; a holy man, a healer and an example. He transcended his ego personality and allowed God to speak through him. This divine potential is available to all people. He showed us the way. ........................ Are we Christian? We do not claim Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. However, we do believe in his teachings. We honour his teachings of love, compassion, non-judgement, non-violence, and a God presence within. Do we believe in reincarnation? We believe that at a deeper, spiritual level we have always existed and will always exist. Bodies die; Spirit does not. We assume there may be many levels of being beyond the one that we know. Our assurance is of a continual spiritual unfoldment. It is not dependent on reincarnation, nor does it rule it out. ........................ Do we believe in sin? We do not believe that people are born flawed. We believe in free will. We make many mistakes during our human existence and we always reap the consequences of our choices. Judgment and forgiveness are not necessary. Spiritual law always brings us the consequences of every action or choice. ........................ Do we teach from the Bible? Yes. We also teach from many other religious and secular writings. We believe the Bible is a valuable and valid source of Truth, but we do not take each word and story literally. ........................ What are our basic beliefs? We believe in one God or Spirit. This Creative, Intelligent, Loving Power is the ground of our being and the life force in all things. All people are created of Spirit and Spirit is in all people, therefore our natural state is one of peace, joy and wholeness. We believe in a spiritual law of cause and affect which states that whatever we create in our thought and belief will become part of our life experience. We can change our life by changing our thinking. Through aligning our thinking with spiritual law, we can achieve happiness and fulfillment. By taking responsibility for our lives we consciously choose to live in harmony with spiritual truths. One God expressing through all people.
